Luke Bryan says it'd be a "travesty" if this year's Entertainer of the Year nominees never end up winning

Luke Bryan has won the CMA’s Entertainer of the Year trophy twice. He’s not nominated for it this year, but he says the three nominees this year who’ve never won the trophy — Carrie Underwood, Eric Church and Chris Stapleton — should all get one at some point.
“It’s just the fact that deserving people get some of these awards at some point,” Luke told ABC Audio on Tuesday. “And I really feel that way about Carrie this year and even Church.”
“I mean, it’s hard: I don’t want to leave people out and not say Stapleton,” Luke added, attempting to avoid the appearance of playing favorites. “But at some point, it’d be a travesty if everybody in that category never got an Entertainer award, y’know?”
Luke also had thoughts about Wednesday night’s CMA telecast, which will be hosted by Carrie Underwood, Reba and Dolly Parton, and will shine a spotlight on the great women of country.
“It’s like anything: If there’s a little discrepancy in our industry, let’s all talk about it and do what we can to make it work,” Luke said, referring to the controversy over female artists being given short shrift the past few years.
“But at the end of the day, we also got to make great music and at the end of the day, that will obviously move female and male artists down the path,” Luke went on. “But it’s gonna be interesting to see how the show is tomorrow. And obviously Dolly’s really involved, and any time she is a part of something, it always adds a special element.”
Tune in to the 53rd annual CMA Awards Wednesday night on ABC to see if one of Luke’s picks takes home the trophy.
